The Cocurricular Music Program of St Rita’s College is the heart and soul of the College. With a long tradition in music making and performing, St Rita’s prides itself on a program which is dynamic and extensive and which encourages students of all abilities to participate.

Learning a musical instrument or voice and being able to make music with others is one of life’s great experiences. The Cocurricular Music Program aims to provide opportunities for students to take part in music regardless of skills or experience, whilst providing challenges and varied opportunities for more advanced students.

Individual tuition thrives in all Year levels and is available for:

  • Woodwind: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Bassoon
  • Brass: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba
  • Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
  • Piano
  • Voice
  • Guitar
  • Percussion

The many ensembles of St Rita’s participate in the annual Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival. They perform at College events including the Music Gala, College Assemblies, the Annual Thanksgiving Celebration, Open Day, liturgies and masses. Instrumental ensembles are open to all students who learn a musical instrument at St Rita’s or externally to the College. Ensembles attend an annual Music Camp at the start of each year and invited students can participate in a Music Tour every three years.
