Yr 11 Leadership Conference

Dear Parents/Guardians

The Year 11 Leadership days will be conducted as a two day Leadership
Conference held on Thursday 14 – Friday 15 September 2017 at the
State Library of Queensland (SLQ). The purpose of this letter is to
confirm details regarding the logistics of the conference, contact
details in case of emergency and to provide you with relevant

The Year 11 Leadership Conference has a twofold purpose. Firstly, in
keeping with the College understanding that all students have the
capacity to lead the College community in various ways,  the
conference involves students in a full day program where they will
look at multiple intelligences and the nuances and opportunities they
each have to lead.  Secondly, students will work with their Head of
House to do initial planning for their House leadership in 2018. Given
that the conference constitutes a significant element of the
leadership program at the College, it is compulsory for students to

Dress:                   _Free dress day_ – in
line with College policy (NO spaghetti straps/singlets/sleeveless
shirts, midriffs, sheer tops or inappropriate slogans. NO shorts or
short/miniskirts. Closed in shoes must be worn (NO Ugg boots)

What to bring:     Water bottle, pen and student ID for
access (morning tea and lunch will be provided)

Travel:                  Students are to make their
own way to and from the venue on both days. Public transport options
can be viewed via the translink website https://translink.com.au/

Cost:                    Cost is included in Term

Upon arrival:        1. Students are to meet with their Head
of House for roll marking outside entrance to library Level 1, (see

way to the Auditorium, follow signage or ask directions at security
(SRC staff will be present to direct students)

Mobile phones are permitted though they must be used responsibly (i.e.
in keeping with the expectations of mobile phone usage at
school).  As is the practice at school, mobile phones used
inappropriately will be confiscated as per College policy.

Contacting your daughter at the conference: In case of
emergency, telephone the College on 3862 1615.  In the event that a
student needs to be collected from the conference, the address
is State Library Queensland – Cultural Precinct, Stanley Place,
