Subjects Offered
St Rita's College offers a broad and engaging curriculum that supports students from Years 5–12 to develop their academic strengths, personal interests and future career aspirations.
Our curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in core learning areas while offering opportunities for specialisation and exploration through elective subjects. As students progress through the College, they are encouraged to make informed subject choices that align with their interests, abilities and future pathways.
Students who meet the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) are eligible to receive the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or the Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA) at the end of Year 12. Throughout their senior years, students are supported in preparing for a range of post-school destinations, including university study, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.
Learning support is available for students who require additional assistance, while extension opportunities enable high-achieving students to further develop their talents and pursue their academic potential. Students undertaking vocational qualifications are supported through partnerships with TAFE and other registered training organisations (RTOs), with opportunities to participate in school-based apprenticeships, traineeships and work experience.
Through these opportunities, we empower young women to pursue pathways that reflect their aspirations and strengths, inspiring them to live our College motto, Virtute Non Verbis – Action not Words.
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Students may complete nationally recognised qualifications delivered at St Rita's College or through external Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). VET qualifications can contribute towards both a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and, where applicable, an ATAR.
Senior Pathways
Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)
Students seeking direct university entry typically undertake an ATAR pathway. ATAR eligibility requires:
- Completion of four General subjects
- Successful completion of an English subject
- Completion of a fifth eligible General, Applied or VET subject at Certificate III level or above
The ATAR is calculated by the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).
Tertiary and Vocational Pathway (TVP)
The TVP pathway supports students pursuing:
- Vocational education and training
- Apprenticeships and traineeships
- Direct employment
- Alternative university entry pathways
Students can combine VET qualifications with Applied and General subjects to create an individualised pathway.
Learning Support and Extension
Learning support is available for students requiring additional assistance, while extension opportunities allow high-achieving students to pursue academic enrichment and challenge.
The College works closely with universities, TAFE Queensland, industry partners and external training organisations to ensure students are well prepared for their chosen post-school pathway.
Applications for Year 5 and Year 7 entry are accepted from Prep until to the January of Year 4.
