Catholic Identity
At St Rita’s College, our Catholic identity is at the heart of who we are.
Our Catholic Identity is reflected not only in what we teach, but in the way our students are encouraged to live out gospel values through our College motto – Virtute non verbis – Action not Words.
In responding to Jesus’ call to love deeply act justly and serve others with humility, our students learn how to become women of action through the examples of our patrons, Nano Nagle and St Rita.
Inspired by the rich tradition of the Presentation Sisters, our College believes that education has the power to form empowered and confident young people of faith who lead through action and service.
Our mission shapes all that we do. It guides our learning, our relationships and our outreach, calling us to be responsive to the needs of our world. In this way, we continue the legacy of the Presentation Charism, living out a spirituality grounded in justice, service, hospitality and love.
We offer a model of service learning in which students are encouraged to lead through service, inspired by the examples of Jesus, Nano Nagle and St Rita, using their gifts to lift and support others. Students engage in prayer, liturgies, service learning, immersion experiences and social justice initiatives, inviting them to put their faith into action and to live out our College Pillars of Compassion, Hospitality, Simplicity, Justice, Courage and Hope. These experiences help our students grow in faith, engage meaningfully with the world around them, and contribute to a world that is more just, compassionate and loving.
The Religious Life of the College is shaped by four interconnected pillars: Religious Identity and Culture, Evangelisation and Faith Formation, Prayer and Worship, and Social Action and Justice. Each pillar offers a distinct focus, working together to strengthen and enrich the spiritual life of our community.
We acknowledge the Turrbal and Jagera people, the traditional owners of the land where St Rita’s College now stands.
