Curriculum Learning

At St Rita's College, students are encouraged to question rather than to assume, to challenge rather than conform, and to take the lead rather than to follow.

With an unfaltering belief in the transforming power of education, St Rita’s provides its students with a holistic learning experience where creativity and critical thinking exist together and where self-respect is more precious than self-importance.

St Rita’s College aims to provide a stimulating learning environment across the academic, vocational and cocurricular disciplines. Our academic results in NAPLAN testing, ATAR achievements and scholarship attainments continue to stand out as among some of the most impressive in the State, and we foster a positive learning environment based on mutual respect and open communication. The St Rita’s student will work independently and in teams, experience collaborative learning, and involve themselves in decision-making and leadership from Year 7 through to Year 12.

The curriculum framework at St Rita’s is underpinned by the values of a Catholic school in the Presentation tradition and embeds Catholic Social Teaching into all subjects across all Year levels. A clear focus is maintained on continually reviewing and revising our curriculum so that it addresses the most relevant, proven innovations in the constantly changing world of education and continues to cater for broad learning abilities through pedagogy and support programs in the aim for each girl to achieve her personal best.

One of the greatest strengths of the St Rita’s classroom practice is the commitment of our dedicated staff to work in partnership with parents and guardians in enabling our students to achieve to the best of their ability. It is only by working together that we can deliver a quality, satisfying and enjoyable curriculum that empowers and invigorates young women to leave our College with positive mental habits and excellent preparation for further learning and employment.

Year 5 at St Rita's

Year 5 is being reintroduced at St Rita's from 2022. A Head of Primary has been appointed in preparation for our new journey of providing exceptional learning experiences for Years 5 and 6. Our Head of Primary will work closely with the College Leadership Team and Heads of Faculty in the planning and delivery of a holistic curriculum, which also meets high standards of spiritual, physical, emotional and social growth for the students.

Study Skills

Students have access to a range of Study Skills programs and workshops which assist them in developing the skills and habits that underpin academic success. Time Management, organisation, motivation, memorisation techniques, note-taking skills, conquering procrastination, perfection paralysis, anxiety reduction and exam strategies are among the key learnings offered by the College’s Study Skills program. A group of high-achieving immediate past scholars are also employed as tutors by the College specifically to work with Year 11 and 12 students.
