Principal's Welcome Our College

St Rita’s College is a school where minds are opened, dreams are imagined and the Presentation traditions of compassion, hospitality and simplicity establish foundations for the future. It is a place where character is formed, conscience is followed and girls with attentive hearts become women of action.

As an independent Catholic day school for girls from Years 5—12, St Rita’s was established by the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1926 and is a Ministry of Mercy Partners.

At St Rita’s, your daughter will experience a modern school with a rich tradition in academic and sporting excellence, cultural diversity and an unfailing commitment to social justice. Change is embraced, expectations are high, and lessons learnt last long beyond the classroom. In teaching our students the courage to stand alone and the power of standing together, we challenge them to be women of action and not just words – Virtute non Verbis.

St Rita’s offers girls a comprehensive, faith-filled secondary education that encompasses first-class academic and vocational pathways to tertiary study and/or employment. From 2022, Year 5 was reintroduced at the College. The pastoral care of our students is of great importance and the College House System provides eight House groupings to ensure that our structures allow for every girl to be known and to be known well.

We are blessed with exceptional teachers, and their expertise, commitment and nurturing impart exceptional student leaders who guide our student body with encouragement and challenge. Academic results continue to stand out as among some of the most impressive in the State, and our dynamic curriculum is regularly reviewed to recognise new and effective trends in education and to identify professional growth opportunities for teacher development.

Our Big Sister/Little Sister program and mission and outreach programs are cornerstones of a Presentation education. The long-held tradition of the Big Sister/Little Sister program at St Rita’s provides the means to ensure our newest students are welcomed and nurtured by the senior girls. The mission and outreach undertakings at St Rita’s provide our students and staff with the opportunity to understand first-hand the difference between charity and justice.

The spiritual development of our students is a priority of our education. St Rita, throughout her life, lived justly with determination, persistence and passion – her actions and words founded on love and faith. We want to prepare each St Rita’s student to carry these same characteristics throughout her life.
