Health and Physical Education (HPE) is the fun science that exercises your body and brain. Be energised - feel better! It’s the best mood booster and fabulous for focus.

HPE is the playlist of health literacy that young people need to power through the challenges of everyday life. Just 30 minutes a day of physical activity can boost academic performance and be beneficial to our overall physical and mental health. The subject of Health and Physical Education at school is not just physical activities; it breathes life into our hearts and minds, literally.

At St Rita's, HPE supports students to refine and apply strategies for maintaining a positive outlook and evaluating behavioural expectations in different leisure, social, movement and online situations. Students learn to apply skills to devise and implement personalised plans for maintaining healthy and active habits. They also experience different roles that contribute to successful participation in physical activity and propose strategies to support the development of preventative health practices that build and optimise community health and wellbeing. Students also focus on a Personal Development program.
